Support DVS
The Data Visualization Society (DVS) is a community-built organization. Whether you have a few hours a month to share your skills or are looking to lead at a global scale, there is a place for you here.
Explore the three primary ways you can contribute to our mission:
1. Join a Committee (Volunteer)
Best for: Members who want to give 4–6 hours a month to support specific DVS functions. Our standing committees are the “doers” of the organization. From planning the Outlier conference to developing educational resources and managing our Slack community, committee members gain hands-on experience and build deep networks within the field.
- Areas include: Communications, Education, Events, DE&I, Membership, and more.
- Commitment: ~4–6 hours/month.
2. Lead the Society (Board Nominations)
Best for: Experienced practitioners and leaders ready to shape the strategic future of DVS. The DVS Board of Directors oversees the governance and long-term vision of our 501(c)3 nonprofit. We regularly open nomination cycles for roles like Executive Director, DEI Director, and Knowledge Director.
- Current Focus: We are currently seeking strategic leaders for our vacant Director roles.
- The Experience: Influence the direction of the industry and lead a global team of volunteers.
3. Work With Us (Contract & Staff)
Best for: Professionals looking for dedicated roles with a specific scope of work. As DVS scales, we are increasingly engaging paid contributors and contractors to manage key recurrent activities. If you are looking for a more formal engagement with defined timelines and compensation, check our professional openings.
- Opportunities: Specific project roles, event coordination, and community engagement leads.
Not sure where to start?
If you want to help but don’t see the right fit above, we’d still love to hear from you. You can always lead a Affiliated Group or sign up for our Volunteer Alert List to be the first to know when new opportunities—like writing for Nightingale—become available.
